Gentlemen (and ladies - if there are any) of the "AMPS" crew,

In an effort to tap the 'collective intellect', please assist me with the
following challenge. I realize an antenna is not an amp, but one
without the other makes "Jim" unhappy!

I am attempting a 3 element "hamstick yagi" project from my
balcony in my apartment complex. The full-size IRONHORSE
hamsticks I am using are rated at 250 watts RMS (although I
have seen conflicting data on this). I am starting with 20 meters,
then 40 and 17 sung quick disconnects. Boom length is approx.
2/10 wavelength at 20 meters (about 15 feet).

The power rating is fine for my FT 1000 (200 watts out), but I
want to run my FL 7000 into the antenna (500-700 watts out), and
am facing the challenge of possibly rewinding these with
teflon-coated wire, AWG 16 gauge.

So, here's the dilemma... I am concerned about current levels in
the reflector and director. Can anyone tell me what I can expect
for current levels in the parasitic elements as a percentage
of the driven element current? Can I get away with not using
heavier wire on the parasites?

Thanks in advance for your kind help. Unfortunately, my budget
does not allow me to buy NEC Win Plus so I can model this yet,
so I am relying on "paper" documentation for engineering support.

Jim Homer
