Yes, but when power is removed (the original question) the 2000º
immediately starts dropping too. The question is will it drop faster
than the 0º end rises? Or more specifically, will it drop fast enough
to keep the 0º end from reaching a dangerous temperature? It depends on
the thermal conductivity of the wire, the thermal masses at both ends
and the amount of radiation.
In other words, there is no universal answer. In a case like this, I
would assume the tube manufacturer has done their homework and go with
their recommendations. If there is no mention of a cool-down period I
would not be concerned, but if there is, one would be foolish to ignore
it.
