Bill,

I should have mentioned that was gauss per sq inch. I figure some of the older ones may have measured it this way. Actually, I need one that will measure something like 10-20 kilogauss per sq cm. I want to use it here for transformer lam stacks to check the gauss against factory specs. It could be either AC or DC, AC for transformers and DC for chokes. The precision can be within +/- 5-10% or so, or a few gauss (10 to 20). It doesn't have to be that exact as I figure older ones won't have a tight tolerance anyhow. I found an old FW Bell on Ebay but the guy never e-mailed me back to tell me how high it would measure.

A few questions.
Do you need one for ac or dc fields (most likely DC at that level). What is the
gap size? What level of precision? what is the area you are trying to measure
the field?

I'm looking for a good used gaussmeter that will read at least 50 to100 kilogauss. I've looked around on Ebay and most listed are without the probe making them useless. Most times, a new probe, if still available, would cost way more than what the meter is worth. If anyone has an old one that they're wanting to sell, please contact me. Thanks in advance.
