If I recall, the 555 output means something about the leads not being
attached. They made an attachment that connected to the 4 jacks which
had some long female clip jacks built in a small box. You could also
get a set of Kelvin leads for it. The leads can be made though and
those jacks have to be interconnected right for the 555 to go off.
There's some info on this over on the general radio website (now named

The note "AS-IS, NO TESTED" scares me away, especially with the 5555 on the display with nothing attached to it. I've never used one before, but it could be an internal error code of some sort. Regards, Dennis O.
