   Supply and Demand primarily and secondarily product loyalty and 
mythology.    If Collins, today, made the same amplifier I bet it would 
sell for much more.    It is a mistake to think that price is connected to 
the  cost of manufacturing a product. Naturally it sets a lower limit but 
not the actual market price.
   If TenTec could not sell their product for $3600 at the volume that 
they targeted they would either reduce the price or the quantity that they 
sold. The price and volume would would change to maximize profit. The 
primary goal of free enterprise.
