That may be so ... the 2SC2879 is rated for 12 to 18 volts. However, my
point is one cannot simply crank up the output power without concern for
the other occupants of the band. It is imperative that anyone thinking
about operating a modern rig at greater than rated output understand that
nearly every modern power transistor has a 'U' shaped IMD vs. power out
characteristic and the radio designers have, in all probability, taken
that characteristic into account in setting the operating parameters.
Anyone who would run a modern rig at 50 to 75% above rated output
without concern for the increased IMD products is the same kind of
immature, sick person who would illegally "hotrod" a CB radio.
