[Amps] Base Up or Down

What is the significance of Base-Up or Base-Down, versus
Operate in Any Position?

Is it a gravity issue?

Is it because heat rises?

Does heat rise because of gravity?

What do the astronauts in the ISS do for their amplifiers
in microgravity?  What if they had to operate 3-500Z
tubes and couldn't agree on "up?"
