- At one time, John D. Rockefeller's Standard Oil Co. controlled 94+%
of the gasoline in the United States. As Ken Lay's Enron showed us,
the Achilles heel of capitalism is undoubtedly corporate ethics. Had
it not been for unbridaled capitalism and corporate ethics, Karl Marx
would have had no ammunition for his book "Das Kapital", George
Orwell's book "Animal Farm" would not exist, and there would have been
no Berlin wall to tear down.
-- note: Rockefeller was devoutly religious and Ken Lay professes to
be. Apparently, this gives such men some sort of a divine license to
rob widows and orphans and get eternally rewarded for it way up yonder.
