A data sheet for Scotch 27 tape is available at: http://www.mpsupplies.com/3mGlassClothTape27.pdf A careful reading of the sheet reveals an apparent contradiction. One part says the adhesive is thermosetting, but another area says no special preparation is required, either before or after application. Hmmmmm...
