Just a wild guess on my part: zener tolerances are not wonderful, perhaps
the zener in the 30v location is hand picked as needed to make the total
voltage correct.

I'm working on a friends Alpha that appears to have blown
the screen regulator circuit. The circuit is a IRF 830 with
the gate regulated at 360 volts by 4 Zeners. Two of the
Zeners are 150 volt and two are 30 volt! Is there some
strange reason for this configuration that I don't know
about? I would think that four 91 volt or 87 volt Zeners
would be better.
