In case anybody cares, I still have those industrial transformers and chokes
which would build a GREAT REPLACEMENT power supply for something like an
L-4B amplifier. The transformers are big about 40# and the chokes are about
25. They came from an RF heating unit that ran an 8877. BY using different
taps you can get any voltage from about 2500-2700 to 3000. (Or run your amp
on 208V with a filament transformer change). You do lose the ability to run
the amp on 120V. The higher voltage output would wake up that L-4 and make
it a 1500W amp. These would be excellent for RTTY at ham power levels $250
a set. Here's your chance to get rid of the hot little PS with a voltage
doubler and build a man supply. BOB DD
