Maybe I can get the ranting/flaming to stop with a distraction:
I've gotten my early AL80 one-lunger to work pretty well, and added many
protection mods (no, no nichrome involved). One thing I noticed is it has a 27
ohm resistor (actually 3 x 82 ohm 2 watt) in series with the cathode. I think
this provides negative feedback, and also increases the required drive for full
output to 100 watts. Am I correct here? Does it improve linearity? Are there
any downsides to it?
