Wow,
I remember the times, back in dorm around 1995, when we - cheap
Ukrainian students - were buying GU-50 tubes for 50-60 cents or so...
the only tube we could afford :)
I was also told that exchange ratio that time was something like a
gallon of homemade "moonshine" for a box of GU-50s.
That's probably a reason why 3xGU-50 amp design was so popular - you
get 200W output cheaper than dirt :)
