Bob, I have picked up many parts of this type in flea markets for almost
nothing., They came from dismantled printers,. You can probably get a free
printer to take apart if you ask at your next club meeting. I particularly
like the non slip cog belts and pulleys.

Subject: [Amps] Shaft Misalignment Solutions

I am trying to make the front panel of my 4CX1500B amp look symmetrical and
pleasing to the eye. Because I am using a 3" high RF deck, and have
restricted vertical space in the outer cabinet, the vacuum variable and
roller inductor shafts are going to be misaligned relative to the EF Johnson
turns counters. The shafts of both the vacuum variable and roller inductor
exit the RF deck front wall about 2" higher than the turns counter shafts.
There is 3.6" space between the front wall of the RF deck and the rack
panel. I am considering nylon gears, sprockets and belts, flexible shafts,
and those crazy shaft drives that are in the Nebraska SS catalog. I want a
system that will not slip but not increase the rotational torque of the
turns counters. I am leaning towards the sprockets and belt approach(or
better yet, the chain or bead belts) with bushings in the wall of the RF
deck to support the far end of the turns counter shafts. Can someone steer
me in the right direction?. There must be some good websites to buy this
stuff. I couldn't find anything on eBay.

Thanks,
Bob Maser W6TR
