The real important difference between the 1000 an the 1500 (other
than price) is the grid dissipation rating. The 4CX-1000 has something
like .1 watt grid dissipation rating while the 4CX-1500 has a 1 watt rating.
You ask what difference that small increase could possible make? Don't get
hung up on the actual numbers. That is an increase of 10 times and allows,
as Collins put it long ago, a bit of grid current to flow without damaging
the tube.
