If it's Synthetic Textiles double braided Dacron rope, as almost all of it is:

That doesn't contain any nylon at all. It's pure Dacron, white woven center,
black braided outer. I've been to the plant where they manufacture this stuff
(it's local -- used to be in Ventura, now down in Anaheim) and it's quite an
interesting operation.

YMMV from distributor to distributor, but I think you will find that is
not a nylon core, but just a different color dacron. At least what I
have here is not nylon and does not stretch like nylon. The stretch in
50 to 100' of 3/16" nylon is 3 to 5 feet over a day or two. I'm using
the 5/16 that looks as you describe, as a back guy for a 30' 25 G I use
to pull up a 40' aluminum tower with a 30' vertical on top (AV-640) and
it has not had to be retensioned in two years.
