Then just replace the diodes with real ones (-;

Carl

Carl,
Noted. The 3-400Zs have been replace with 3-500Zs already. The 3B28s
have been replaced with K2AW units, I think 14kv 1 amp jobs.

Nope it will work fine as the choke sets the safe peak current thru the
rectifiers.

If this is for a Henry 2K:

Probably a lot of bright lights and smoke with the 3B28's. Just the big
cap
and no choke will work with healthy SS diodes but then you might have
excessive HV for the tubes.

Without the resonant tuning cap the choke after the cap will give some
HV
reduction mainly determined by its winding resistance. Put the 10uF in
front
to limit the HV a bit and the 32 after for more filtering. Go to the
older
HB graphs/formulas to see if that is sufficient critical inductance to
prevent HV soaring. Probably a lot of overkill in the PS and too much HV
for
pricey 3-400Z's. 1N5408 or 6A10 diodes will have plenty of surge
headroom.
