Consider a small metal enclosure with a coax fitting on each side and a 
through connection inside. If the through conductor is made the proper 
gauge, the whole assembly can approximate 52 ohms. Now obviously, all RF 
will remain inside, and the box is simply an extension of the cable itself, 
even the Z is the same. RF flows on the inner surface of the box just the 
same as on the inner surface of the coax braid which is feeding it all. The 
chassis connectors are also nearly the same Z as the cable, so RF just 
passes through them as in any transmission line.
