Refresh my memory, that YC-156 is NOT an 8877, right?

## YC-156 is just a 3CPX-15,000B7... but with the smaller 4.94" anode cooler.

The original 3CPX 15,000B7 came with a 8.32" cooler.

The tube is rated for 3.75A CCS @ 6500 vdc.

The integral grid flange is 5.25" diam. NO suppressor required. No socket
required. 25 ohm input Z. Anything from 3000-7700 vdc no load, works fine on
a YC-156
Like Larry sez... u only need 40 w to get 1500w out. 150w = 7.5 kw. 200w = 10
kw
[dummy load of course]
On a 3CX-3000A7,or a YU-148, you only require 50 w.. to get 1500w out.
On a 3CX-3000A7, imd3 is -57 db pep @ 5 kw pep out. It's even better
at 1.5 kw pep out. All these big tubes have superb IMD. Even if the emission is
1/2 gone, who cares.

## 18 x months ago, I designed a 2 x YC-156 amp for a fellow in W6 land. It
was
a flame thrower. A Rotron CX-33 blower will cool 2 x YC-156's. Although
the
infamous CX-33 blower is no longer made, it's being rebuilt by

## I tried my CX-33 blower with a 0-240 vac 5A variac... and it works
really good.
You can slow the blower way down, to a crawl, if u want = less noise. It's a
nice blower
and has loads of pressure. It will also handle air flow vanes, if required.
There is a rubber
knock out, on either side of the outlet. My CX-33 blower is a 230 vac unit.
 A buddy across
town collects surplus AM + FM broadcast TX. The FM one had a single GG-
3X15K in it.. and came
with a pair of CX-33's. I got mine for $50.00 For 1.5 to 2.0 kw ssb /cw
use... just abt any blower
will work fine.

later... Jim VE7RF
