I still say the same, but I'm surprised it didn't move already. Unbuilt 
kits from out-of-business companies, even volt meters, have gone for 
astronomical values.

To most of us, there is the utility and even nostalgia value added in. I 
*sometimes* pay a bit more for a nice piece of Hallicrafter's gear, or 
rather did. Now I just have too many projects and can't keep up. To a 
true collector though, the rarity (unbuilt in this case) and being 
*untouched* is what makes it valuable. 

I'd bet that kit on e-bay would bring *more* than the $1600, but you 
never know.
SX115s hit a high of over $4,000 USD for one in almost like new shape. 
OF course that was at the peak of the Dot Com Boom, right before the Dot 
Com Bust when *almost* every one had money.
