No limit any more, but I doubt any one has pushed the limits of
reasonableness.
You may also directly import an amp as long as it's not for resale.

It is and I did.

I had never heard of Microham before, but it appears they and not US
based so that would not be a problem for OM.

Yes, they do ship outside the EU. I don't know if they are members of the EU

Due to the devaluation of the USD (politely called QE2), imports from
almost any country have gotten a bit pricier over the last six months.

Although, Alek has a point about the tubes and their availability. I
said earlier that was not a concern for me, but if there is a negative
aspect to the amps it is the tubes they are using. Currently "over
there" they are plentiful. From what I can find, NOS are also still
plentiful, but new? Delivery is questionable, even though I understand
many of them are still listed as being in production (a statement I can
not verify). I am sure the 4CX1600B is no longer available. I would be
more comfortable with different tubes.
I'm still looking at the Emtron DX-2v for 6-meters which is about 45.5Kg
as is the DX-2sp while the DX-3sp is about 60 Kg. With value of the
dollar the 6-meter amp is about as much as the HF amp was.
