Subject: [Amps] Ebay selling CB amps
Is Ebay breaking any FCC rules by selling CB amps? Just curious.
## as long as they are listed as 10m amps or 12m amps..or 10/12 m
amps..or 10+12m amps.. there is no problem. They just list em as monoband
ham amps. Riley H said he gave up on the 11m band [ that was in qst a long
while back].
The FCC can't enforce anything on 11m, they don't have the resources or man
power required
to do the job.
## QST did a wonderful review of the 10/12M ranger xcvr years ago. It came in
2 x versions,
25 w and 150w output [with lousy TX imd]. QST stated it was wonderful they
included LSB..
so the xcvr could be used on rtty ! Of course they also worked on AM.. [ and
I think FM] as
well. Dunno if they had a CW key jack or not. Very simple mod...and they
would TX/RX from
24.890-30.000 mhz. That xcvr was clearly aimed at the 11m market. The ARRL
played a large part
in promoting the xcvr's success in the 11m market.
## Even if E-bay did something abt it... they would just advertise else
where..and probably do.
later... Jim VE7RF
