Hi,
several vacuum relays have contact pins made from Tungsten, for example the
elder glass types RB-3 and RB-7 from Jennings or compareable types from Kilovac.
You can't solder on the short Tungsten pins. One reason is that they are short
and the glass might crack due to the heat of the soldering iron. The second
reason is: It's Tungsten!
The official connecting part is a small silver plated brass cylinder which is
fixed to the Tungsten pin by a small set screw.
You may solder the wire to the small cylinder before and fix it to the Tungsten
pin of the relay later.
I have a bunch of the smaller types of these "connecting cylinders" for sale
which fit to relay types like Jennings RB-7 or compareable types. Maybe you are
interested in these.
