[Amps] Tuning Cap

While digging through a box containing the remains of various amplifier
projects

I found a large National air variable cap.  Frame is 8 inches by 4.5 inches,
spacing of plates around .2 inches.

There is a barely visable number on the ceramic insulator/ spacer. its 230A
or maybe 280A

 

Can anyone ID this thing for me?
