If I were you all, I'd either pay what it costs for decent electrolytics or look for used oil caps. This thing with reforming and having one go kablooey -- not worth it. Maybe you can find a few other hams nearby to go in for fifty 450 v. 330 uF from Mouser--get Illinois Capacitor or CD and save some money by getting quantity. Eight of those each for a 3 KV supply.
