I have been using two bridged SG-500 amps for years
without trouble. Output is 1000 W on 160, 1100 W from 80
to 15 meters, and 890 W on 12 and 10. (I have modified the
T/R control to eliminate the timing variation caused by
the micro-processor. The amps switch exactly at the same
time now!) We used the same amps on TX3A, where they were
running 20 hours a day, for 30 days, at full power, for a
total of 36,000 QSO-s. These amps are over 10 years old
now and have been on 4 DXpeditons. I think it is fair to
say that they proved to be reliable.

I still use my Alpha during contests, for the extra few
hundred watts, but even that may go away soon. I am
looking into building a new SS set up for full legal
power.
