Thanks to all for your suggestions.  In retrospect, I think I should 
have put more emphasis on the "why" aspect - is it dangerous to input 
circuit components to run an amplifier like an SB-220 on bands for which 
it is not designed, when the SWR appears not to be excessive?  If I 
recall correctly, the input SWR on 18MHz was only about 1.5:1 before 
whatever changed.
