They run 24/7 with 5KV as PP modulators, and 6kV is still within the AB2 spec.

You just dont see that mentioned in ARRL literature.

    Another problem is that many if not most 4X1's have been 
    beat on hard in commercial service, have low emission, and are being driven 
    hard and at very high voltages at times
  If I am not mistaken, the 4X1 "typical" GG service is rated at 3KV.  Pump it 
up with the proverbial "pole pig" power supply at 6KV and something has to go 
out of spec.  Most likely IMD?
