G'day Bob.

On the contrary. Several posters stated or implied that K3s did not
overshoot at all.

A couple of posts blamed Charles for the problem in that he did not do
the proper calibration or alignment procedure.

It is still my belief that Charles should NOT be required to make any of
these adjustments if he bought a factory finished product. That is the
whole issue here and the only point that I was trying to make

Also, it is arguable that any realignment or calibration will not fix
Charles' problem because, from what he has described, the problem is
only evident on initial key up and subsequent keying only after a long
rest period. Perhaps his radio does have a genuine fault.

I don't profess to know jack about the K3 nor have I ever read anything
about its problems, real or perceived. I tried to use one many times
while I was member of a local club but I was just too stupid to even
begin to understand how to operate it.

73 and your call looks familiar. Maybe we've exchanged reports on cw.
I've certainly seen you spotted on the cluster anyway.
