Nothing wrong with rating peak horsepower in the sense of power for a brief
period. Kind of like ICAS rating vs CCS rating.

Whether they do it accurately or not is another issue. I have no idea and
don't much care.

The problem is that there is no spec included on what the "brief period" is. Running a compressor motor for an hour is not brief and the true rated HP is much less. It is a fraud on the buyers.
Using your analogy it doesnt even meet IVS.
