In the 1963 IEE Convention on HF Communication conference papers, there is a
paper on 'A Wideband Directional Coupler for Power Measurements in the HF Band.
Designed for 1.6 to 27.5MHz, it is a theoretical study with no practical
details except a photograph and the results. It is much the same as half of one
of the Bruene designs, but has the advantage over the tandem arrangement that
the voltage is sampled capacitively.
I could scan it for you if needed, but as there's a limitation on the size of
files I can send, there would be several emails.

Subject: [Amps] high power dual directional coupler
Hello!
I am looking for a design of a directional coupler for HF, 1.8 to 30 MHz
or if possible 50 MHz.
Sofar I tried the original Bruene, that was not referenced to ground,
and a tandem coupler were I "smoked" the toroid after a while.
I tried to work one out in LT spice but I don't trust my spice skills ....
Demands:
Frequency range 1.8 - 30 MHz
Several Kw
Coupling in the range of 30dB or more
High directivity
Dual coupling to do Pwr / SWR measurements.
A "how to design" or a complete design would be nice.
Thank you!
