Jim, I considered using solid state relays for my micro controlled amp, and in fact use four Crydom SSR’s for switching filament, blower, etc. After thinking about it I decided that I wanted the loud acoustic reminder “THUNK” that my 100 amp contactor makes whenever the high voltage is turned on, and the lesser noise it makes when the high voltage is turned off.
