Agreed, that is the one thing i did do, is replace the zener, but no 
change. Looks like it is a bad tube, after swapping and pulling, the 
problem follows the one of them. So now for a little market research i 
guess.

##  How old is the  good remaining tube ??    I would just buy a matched pair 
of new tubes and be done with it. 
Your chances of getting a 50-50  current split on an old eimac 3-500Z  with a 
mu of 130   vs a new 3-500Z  with a 
mu of 200   will not be very good. 

##  sell the remaining semi good oem tube to someone who has a 1 tube amp.
