Tnx to all hams who answered.
The general wisdom was to use 100 watts or less running through the amp
while on standby or Off due to small RF input cable (one severe failure
reported).

About 30 18 12 meter operations......
-use 40m band and re tune for 30, works ok, and mine does.
-Apparently three versions of the model were manufactured, the latter of
which is Web-said to be fixed by factory to work on 18 and 12 and is
distinguished by its rubber ringed knobs. Mine, so equipped, works at full
power on these two bands.

-quote from Web....... There were 3 Amateur Radio versions of the Titan
425. The easy way to tell them apart: the first had a dark case like the
original Corsair, mid-1980's. The second was a grey case, Corsair II-style
knobs and says TITAN 425 on the front panel. Serial numbered up to
425-01000. Roughly 1986 to 1989. Third version has the rubberized knobs
like the modern HF rigs, says TITAN on the front, serial numbers after
425-01000 and then date encoded serial numbers which we started using in
1989.

Any more info will be appreciated. 73
