Also, broken wires, physically broken components including switches, broken
traces on circuit boards, corrosion, and a number of other things. This is
especially true of units used for mobile operation. Vibration, "bumps" in the
road, and other situations definitely cause failures in mobile equipment that
have absolutely nothing to do with heat!
Having spent many decades in the commercial two-way radio and microwave radio
arena, I have seen a LOT of equipment failures that had nothing to do with heat!
