| But if the tube is kaput then most of that grid gold has likely vaporized
and splattered all over the anode and cathode.
I guess it is all about how much work some ham wants to go thru to salvage
any. Considering that the Chinese sell that tube to OEM's in small quantity
for ~ $650 says there isnt much gold involved; it takes a lot of labor to
build a GOOD one and Eimac charges about 2X more for the privilege of having
their name painted on.
On a big tube such as the YC-156 and bigger there may be a bonanza.

Any metal recycler will take them or toss in with the other metals as you

I have (6) 8877s that are no good (kaput).
Reading through the archives there does not appear to be any viable
options
for rebuilding.
So.. The $64 question... what is the responsible way to dispose of these
tubes?
Can't see throwing out the tubes with the garbage.
Suggestions much appreciated.
