Next Tuesday I will receive the first in the USA SPE 1.5K-FA. This
uses a single device unlike the Flex or Elecraft. Some publications
say the SPE uses the MRF1K50HR5 and others the MRF1K80HR5, so I'm
uncertain. Apparently it runs at 48V in the MAX setting.

I suspect only a matter of time before someone has an offering using 1 or 2
of these devices.
I have used a HP ESP120 50V 57.5A retired server power supply to power my
W6PQL SSPA. Biggest issue I see for home builder is getting a 65V ~50A
power supply. A new TDK-Lambda adjustable 80V 65A power supply would be
perfect but set you back a small fortune.

## I see on the flex website, that if anybody orders their shiny
new Power genius b4 the end of this month, that Flex will also
include, at no extra charge, the mating outboard tuner ! Cant
remember if it is
auto or not, has memories or not. I still dont know what the new
flex power genius is actually rated at. They say 1.5
kw ICAS. What the heck does that imply ? That does not sound
like 1.5 kw rtty
or FM to me. On their U tube video, just running 1.5 kw on CW, you
can hear the myriad of fans screaming in the background. The
price, including outboard tuner is $6999.00 IMO, that is a lot of $$
for a 1.5 kw ICAS SS amp.
## One possible fix for the new 65 vdc LDMOS devices is to wire
a 50 vdc switching supply in series with a 13.8 vdc switching
supply, or a 13.8 vdc analog supply, or crank up the vdc on
the 13.8 vdc supply,
to 15 vdc, if you wanted the 65 vdc . 63.8 vdc is probably good enough.
## I suspect its only a matter of time b4 a 75-100 vdc LDMOS
becomes the norm.
