Bill, I'm not sure you're aware of a simple mod to the 2K that allows
about a 10 second key-down time at 1.5K output. It also requires a FW
revision as the attached reply to my 2013 query to Gianfranco of SPE
explains. It's obviously not a sea change, but it might give you wnough
extra leeway for an RTTY test exchange. I have not made the mod
myself. I'm not sure whether the mod is relavent to later serial numbers.

Hello,
this change improves the use of the amplifier on RTTY in MAX. also need a
special SW rev. that, after the hardware changing , I'll send you.
The SW modification consists (in MAX) in bringing from 3 sec. to 10 sec the
switching to MID in RTTY mode.
It was nice to meet you at Dayton.

Oggetto: Modification to extend key down time for 2K-FA
Dear Gianfranco:
It was a pleasure to meet up with you again at Dayton. During our
conversation, you mentioned a modification for 2K's with serial numbers
below 102. It looks like my 2K is serial number 115100073. So I would like
to make that modification to extend the key down time. Please provide the
instructions.
Ciao and 73,
Joe Giacobello
