You could change the filament transformer to one that delivers 6.3V at
25A and use a 3CX1200D7 instead. W8JI sells the tubes at his website.
It uses the same socket and pinout.

Larry,
Unfortunate.
Some have mentioned they may not be rebuilding tubes below a certain
plate dissipation. Maybe so, but they should at least tell me to 'go
away'.
Someone is rebuilding these tubes as RF Parts is selling rebuilt
3cx1200a7's.
I bought an amp that has a real dud of a 3cx1200a7 in it and thought
I
would look at getting it rebuilt. As some have mentioned, if you use
your amp correctly, and it's tuned properly, the tubes will last a
very
long time. I have a Henry 3K Classic MKII with this tube in it from
mid
eighties and it still easily puts out full power.
It may be a better choice for me to use Ameritron parts and turn it
into
a AL-1500. It's an Al-1200 now, and I have 8877's
If anyone knows the parts needed to do this, as I'm sure others have
done it, I would appreciate any info. I can think of parts specific
to
the 8877, such as fil xfmr, tube socket, fil choke, grid trip stuff,
grid meter shunt, etc.
It would probably be cheaper in the long run anyway.
