In a former life, I also maintained a Continental 317-C2 as well as several
high-power Harris FM transmitters. Econco rebuilt our 4CX20,000D tubes and
I don't recall ever having an issue -- but that was back in the 1980s. I've
not seen any recent feedback concerning their rebuild QC.

At one time, I do know that they would attempt a rebuild of a 3CX1000A7 as
well as the 3CV1500A7. Same tube - different cooling method. Years ago,
Econco's John Canevari told me that fewer than 50% of those tubes survived a
rebuild. The cutting and retrofitting process is hard on a tube that small.
At the time, customers were only billed if the tube passed QC testing after
the rebuild.
