Hi Jay,
I have had the same problem with a few Birds; 43 and others. The usual
thing was the tabs in the line section are not making contact. I got brave
and sort of bent them a very little bit so when the slug was reinserted the
tabs made contact with the slug again. It's a good job for a jeweler with a
very light touch. lol. Good luck.
