I had to replace the iron power low band tank coil when bringing a QRO HF2000 back to life, by replicating what appeared to be the original. It works, but it appears to be Q = 7 to 8 at 160 and 80m, and it gets hot on 160. Conventional wisdom is that it will get hotter at higher Q, not good for iron powder. Typical specs for tank coils seems to be optimum Q of ~10. The usual advice is IIABDFI ("if it ain't broke...") Comments and suggestions appreciated. 73, John AI6LY _______________________________________________ Amps mailing list Amps@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/amps |
