That's correct Alek.....the 3-1000Z must be treated the same as a 3-500Z,
i.e. the anode must be gotten cherry red in order to activate the residual
gas absorbing Zirconium getter coating on the anode surface.
The trick is to achieve the requisite dull red plate glow initially at the
lowest possible plate voltage...and then soak for a few hours to regenerate
the tubes as the plate voltage is then gradual incremented upwards and the
bias backed off to maintain the dull cherry-red plate up to the amplifier's
full rated plate voltage.
Then, and only then, will the tube be safely ready for action at full plate
HT and application of RF! Lest destructive internal plasma conduction
fireworks will ensue and the tube will be surely ruined... :-(

Is the 3-1000Z not like the 3-500Z in that the only way to get the
gettering to work is through having the anode nice and hot? That is
glowing nicely.
Therefore, it doesn't matter how long you let the tube run with filament
and fan, no gettering is happening. That is my understanding.
