Hi David,
Yes tuning into a perfect 1 to 1 dummy, or resonant antenna.

The AMP is defyng all logic.

It is an old SB-220. with different HV supply, 3700/380 volts

Because of the higher voltage the tank circuit needed some major changes like the Plate cap could not go ow enough so it now has an ameritron one.  the "L" was way off and got tired trying to get a good tap so changed it out to a roller.

It makes 1500 watts easily, tubes stay cool hard to get them to ever change color grid current is super ow even at 1500 watts OUT it is like only 100ma.

So the amp is like super happy in every way except the load cap does NOTHING! it's crazy.

You would have to look at where the contacts were made and what multipliers.   S units were never standardized and are worthless.    There is something really wrong with your amp or your antenna system.  How does it work  into a good dummy load?

Yes, contesting with an amp is better. I don’t any more because

It works making power and LOTS of it, But the Load Cap, is all funky.
When measured with a VNA the amount of "C" varies as expected. And in

But in use, it does little to nothing at all.  fully meshed fully

"C" on the load cap changes the output maybe 50 watts  thats all.

BUT I took from 3830 the top ten from Multi single High and low

and single op high and low powers.

took out the so2r and others similar.

And the Multi single high power almost made twice as many contacts as

and in the single op High vs low. made also almost twice as many Q's

As one that has never contested with an amp,

does it really make it that much better!?

Don't forget about the amp if you have any ideas?
