Ed; I am only going by long published data and generally accepted ( 20+
years) on a 1 wave vertically polarized loop. I have no idea what was in
LBM last year.

All I said is that if NOT equilateral the point 1/4 wave down from the
top has been recommended......... many times in HRM and QST . In your
example they pretty much are the same....17.5 % up or 1/4 wave down do
fall at the same point at times. Not all of us can install a full loop
without violating at least one of the "ideals".

My own and only experience with a low band loop was on 80M. From a 90'
apex the base was longer and only 5' above ground....that antenna still
holds the ARRL CW DX Contest record for single band 80M (I think) ....81
DXCC countries in one weekend ( add 2 more for USA and VE) with 600W. I
did not know any better...just fed it in the corner.

Perhaps the latest software enhancements will allow better fine tuning
for individual sites.

73 Carl KM1H 311 CFMd on 80M and 264 on 160...all from the same town
( 4 mile difference horizontally and 400' in elevation from 2 QTH's)
