Here are the results of a couple of quad models in free space:
2 element quad with reflector: gain = 7.29 dBi, F/B = 20 dB
2 element quad with director: gain = 6.22 dBi, F/B = 4 dB
The gain and F/B can be varied a bit by tuning the parasitic element.
However, it appears to be impossible to improve the F/B of the quad with the
director beyond the relatively poor 4 dB.
You can see why nobody uses a director in a 2 element quad.
