As a marketing professional, I feel compelled to throw in my 2 cents worth
:-) ....
The name of this reflector is misleading. Tony's posting is a good example
of what results, and I'll bet there are dozens of others out there who are
similarly misled in their understanding that this reflector is NOT about
antennas in general, but instead intended by the founders to be about only
one narrow aspect of antenna discussion.
This "problem" will persist until one of the following occurs: (1) the name
of the reflector/subject changes to reflect the intended topic; (2) the
intended topic broadens to include all other aspects of antenna discussion;
(3) enough message traffic occurs that eventually newbies (and current
oldies) figure out that the bulk of discussion is about what is intended by
the moderator(s) (right now, this antenna discussion reflector has the
lowest message traffic of any of the half-dozen I'm currently subscribed to,
making it much more susceptible to "accidental" "off-topic" postings).
Otherwise, I have found that at least for those wire antennas I'm interested
in that the construction is *unfortunately* tightly linked to the
modeling...ie, the model is sufficiently inaccurate that the ultimate
construction dimensions & topology have to be different than the EZNEC,
MMANA and other antenna modeling programs' model, making for a highly
interactive design operation between the modeling and the construction. The
one exception I've witnessed was a pro engineer friend's professional
modeling program that seemed to nail it, but I'm not quite ready to drop
>$1000 on a tool that I use for casual hobby use. Thus, I agree with a
recent poster that in order for this reflector to be more useful there
should be at least some discussion about construction problems vs model.

I must be subscribed to the wrong list. I didn't know this was only for
antenna models, what a surprise, but then again, I've only been subscribed
for about 2 years now, and seen maybe 10 messages go by the entire time.
If it's for modeling, why not make a model then talk about it?
How about this to get it started (and I am not so good of a model maker).
Basically, a 40m 4sq, sitting on the ground but using the ~70ft mast to hold
it, they slope a littel inward. I'm sure it could be tweaked to make it
much better. I can send the entire model if desired.
