I did some of the 80 SSB operating at the K1RX multi-multi.  When the
band is open to Europe, I use split exclusively, since 3750 to 3800
gets
too noisy to hear anything weak.

Quite often, there are Europeans cqing split between 3700 and 3750,
plus
lots of stateside CW to contend with (the USA Novice band is
3675-3725).
To get a quiet listening frequency requires going below all this.

Even then, there are a lot of stations calling that are too far
below the noise to be worked.


And about Sunday's propagation:  It was $#@!%#.  15 wasn't too bad,
but
10 never really opened (after several 120-150 hours saturday).
