There was quite an amusing situation on 20m Saturday evening during the
first couple of hours of Sprint that those of you in the Sprint probably
missed. 3Y0PI was down at about 14023 listening up, calling "EU only".
He was greeted, of course, by dozens and dozens of people making calls like
"WN3K NA". The 3Y operator was getting quite upset that he couldn't get
the message through that he would take Europe only and instead got North
Americans who were oblivious to his warnings. I think he finally figured
out what was happening and narrowed his split down to stay away from Sprint.

Just finished hand scribbled logs for CW sprint last night, still dont
know how you can go fast and do computer logging in NA..will try and
learn TR software next time.

Equipment: Kenwood TS-930S barefoot into Butternut HF6V vertical
Conditions sounded great, especially on 40 meters. I don't think there was
one signal under 10db/9. This is one contest where a big/bigger signal really
seems to make a difference. It seems like us "little pistols" have to do a
lot more tuning around. I've gotta get one of those new callsigns! For the
past few years, people keep mixing myself and NF6S up!

N0AX made 203 x 41 = 8323...still haven't cracked the 10k point barrier
with low-power. 40 was not good without big antennas...stayed there too
long before QSY to 80. Lunatic Fringe had good turnout...see you next

I didn't mean to suggest that the ONLY way to QSL the big logs would be
online, but it would sure cut down on the "new band/mode/using
left-foot/over 40 outside/etc." paper. Although those are sometimes the
most amusing...
The ARRL stopped crediting contest QSOs because of the massive amounts of
paper, I recall. Too much trouble to look up the old logs, with which I
can certainly sympathize.
Hey, if somebody sends me a card...they get one back. Bottom line!

This was my first time out with the "new" TS-930S (new for me, any
way) and the new antenna farm: TH-7 and 40-2CD (dipole on 80),
all at 60 feet or so. My previous high score was 204 Qs and 39
mults.
20 73 Qs
40 92 Qs
80 56 Qs

221 Qs x 40 mults = 8,840 claimed score
So, how does this compare for 100 watt entries? W6UQF, my local
low power competition, was a smidge ahead of me near the end. I
don't know who else was running barefoot.
I'm still logging and duping by hand. Did not have time to practice on
Tree's software before the contest, and didn't want to learn under
fire!
Only strategic mistake I made was staying on 20 too long,
apparently. I stayed until 0130Z. There were still stations, but
it was obvious when I got to 40 that I shoulda been there sooner.
Do you experienced guys jump around between bands, or just go 20,
40, then 80 as the "group" goes?
I did well on 20 and 40 in terms of getting thru on calls and
getting answers to CQs. 80 was a different story, tho. 100 watts
and a dipole is 100 watts and a dipole!
Had "clean sweeps" with K1KI, N2IC, KI3L, K3MD, W5FO, WB5NBC,
W5WMU, WA6KUI/4, N6ND, AC6T, W6UQF, KI7Y, AG9A, K9ZO, and WD0T.
