I'd love to listen above 7040, but with at least 2-dozen european big
guns cqing all night long, there just isn't any room. And operating
split makes it all but impossible to maintain a clear frequency. At
least by listening below 7040 I can hear once in a while. It's sort
of like having a "DX window" for the USA.
Looking at it another way, the USA side of 40 is 150 kHz wide, but
the DX side is just 60 kHz wide. 60 kHz just isn't big enough for
a phone band...

Has anyone had a problem with Dunestar filter failures?
At the K1KI ARRL CW multi-multi, we got to talking about
interstation interference since there wasn't much else to
do and the operators had brought an impressive collection
of filters and stubs.
K1CC mentioned that he has had a couple of Dunestar filter
failures on 10 meters (yes, he observed the power rating).
N6BV brought a Dunestar that we used on the 10/80 meter
station without any problems, and he had used it extensively
on all bands at home.
Anyone else notice problems with the Dunestar on 10 meters?

Subject: NCJ Sprint changes in the wind

The NCJ Sprint Contest Committee is considering swapping the CW and Phone
Sprint weekends starting in 1995.
This is being done to eliminate conflict with the FOC Marathon which is
held concurrent to the February CW sprint.
We propose swapping both weekends (February and September) to eliminate
confusion.

Isn't that the small slice of 75m where JAs can operate and W6RJ and N5AU

That's just life on 40 meters; love it or leave it. If you listen below
7040,
you miss some Q's. If you listen above 7040, it is bedlam. Think how
the "American" phone portion of 40 sounds in Europe! Jon and Paul
are both right on their respective comments, and I agree with both of
them, but I feel better about honoring "gentlemen's" agreements on
dx windows. If you want something to complain about, how about all
the darn amtor in the 7070 to 7090 part of the band? Talk about
difficult on the ears! OOOppppsssss.... ;-}

This seems the equivalent of a European choosing something like 7142 as a
listening frequency. Would we hear K1RX/NX1H calling him there?
Is the IARU Reg. 1 band limit not enforced, or only enforced by some
governments?
